WHO WE ARE

Some of the most important things in life happen

when women gather together.

United Women in Faith at First United Methodist Church Waxahachie is a place where women of all ages and all stages of life come to connect, grow, and support one another. We laugh together, pray together, dig into scripture together, and show up for each other in the everyday moments that matter most.

We believe faith grows richer in community — and that every woman who walks through the door brings something the rest of us need.

MINISTRIES

Through our women's ministry program at FUMC, we connect and nurture women through Christian spiritual formation, leadership development, creative fellowship, and education so they can inspire, influence, and impact local and global communities. United Women in Faith is the umbrella organization that houses all our Women's Ministry programs and events. For information about the national movement, click the link below.

United Women in Faith

Rooted Women's Ministry creates space specifically for women in their 20s and 40s. We host monthly gatherings built around friendship, faith, and real conversation. And as part of the wider United Women in Faith community, we also bring together women of every generation who want a place to belong and a community to call their own.

First Monday Coffee

6: 15 -7:15 pm, Fresh Market Coffee

Rooted Women's Ministry is a place for women in their 20s-40s to gather and enjoy life together.  NEW DAY: Our first Wednesday Coffee is now happening on the first Monday of the month. We gather at Fresh Market Coffee from 6:15 to 7:15 pm.

Sewing Ministry

Our sewing ministry group meets twice a month to work on mission-minded sewing projects for our church and community. The women make dresses and britches for Little Dresses for Africa; they sew blankets for new babies in our congregation; and other such projects.

SEPTEMBER

Bring-Your-Own-Craft Night

September 26, 2026 6 - 8:00 pm

Rooted Women's Ministry is hosting a Bring-Your-Own-Craft Night.  If you knit, paint, cross stitch, or even make rainbow loom bracelets, bring your supplies and spend the evening with us.  Even if you aren't a crafter, we'll have a simple activity for you to do while we chat.  All are welcome! Cost is $5.

Women's Soul Care Retreat

October 3, 2026 9:30 am to 3:00 pm

The Women's Soul Care Retreat is a pathway to connect with other women and to focus on caring for your whole person – mind, body, and spirit.  What can you expect from the day?

 

Sisterhood: Authentic, spiritual, safe-space connections with other women.

 

Relevance: Insightful speakers and inspiring doers offering new, relatable content connected to faith, social justice, sisterhood, and more.

 

Growth: Unique and meaningful experiences to stretch your thinking and increase your awareness of the Divine’s presence in your life.

 

Women-led: Spaces for women, made by women

Ladies Night Out

October 17, 2026 7:00 pm

Join us for a ladies' night out at Roma's Italian Restaurant.  If the weather is nice, we'll try to sit on the rooftop patio! RSVPs are required for the reservation.  Please RSVP by October 14th to communications@fumcwaxahachie.org or in the Rooted Facebook group.
