Acts

Luke 3:1-6
In the fifteenth year of the reign of Emperor Tiberius, when Pontius Pilate
was governor of Judea, and Herod was ruler of Galilee, and his brother
Philip ruler of the region of Ituraea and Trachonitis, and Lysanias ruler of
Abilene,  2  during the high-priesthood of Annas and Caiaphas, the word of
God came to John son of Zechariah in the wilderness.  3  He went into all the
region around the Jordan, proclaiming a baptism of repentance for the
forgiveness of sins,  4  as it is written in the book of the words of the prophet
Isaiah, ‘The voice of one crying out in the wilderness:
“Prepare the way of the Lord,
    make his paths straight.
5  Every valley shall be filled,
and every mountain and hill shall be made low,
and the crooked shall be made straight,
    and the rough ways made smooth;
6  and all flesh shall see the salvation of God.”’

This Sunday is Pentecost, one of the most important days in the Christian year—even more important than Christmas! It’s the day we remember how the Holy Spirit was poured out on Jesus’ followers and how the Church was born. Some people were confused or even made fun of what was happening, but others opened their hearts and received something amazing. God still speaks through dreams and visions today, and the Holy Spirit continues to work in our lives if we’re willing to listen. Join us and discover what it means to dream God's dreams and be led by His Spirit!

What are the most important words in the Bible? Most of us would say things like God, Jesus, love, and faith—and we’d be right! But this week, we’re going to talk about two words that are often misunderstood: conversion and repentance. They’re not just one-time events; they’re part of a lifelong journey with Jesus, full of learning, growing, and turning toward the good. Come hear the story of Paul, a man who went from enemy of the church to one of its greatest leaders—and the everyday people like Ananias who helped make that transformation possible.

Sometimes, doing what’s right isn’t easy. After Jesus rose from the dead, he told his followers to share his message with the world—but that put them in danger. The authorities wanted to silence them, and even threw them in jail. But the apostles chose to follow God rather than give in to fear or pressure. This week, we’ll explore what it means to speak the truth with courage, even when it’s risky or unpopular.

Have you ever felt like you could go through life without anyone’s help? That being a ‘rock’ or an ‘island’ might protect you from pain?
Paul Simon sang it, but God tells us a different story: ‘It is not good that the man should be alone.’ In a world where screens replace human connection, loneliness is rising, and community feels optional, we need to ask ourselves: Are we living as God intended?

Join us as we explore the power of connection, community, and why we’re not meant to do this life alone in Dr. Kevin Tully's sermon, “Paul Simon Sang It, But I Never Believed It."

Ever found yourself on a path you never expected?
This Sunday, we'll delve into the story of Peter and John's encounter with a lame man at the temple gate. What lessons can we learn when life takes an unexpected turn? Come discover the insights and challenges awaiting us as we consider God's transformative power in our lives.

Join us this Sunday for Dr. Kevin Tully's sermon, "Rerouted."
